The mausoleum of Imam Jafar Sadiq is located in the Emom village of Shamsiddin Shohin district of Khatlon region, in the south-eastern part of the Republic of Tajikistan. There is a beautiful and picturesque area called Dara in Shamsiddin Shohin, former Shurobod district. The gorge was chosen as the appropriate name for the site, which is extremely large and stretches from south to north for more than 70 km. The northern part of the Dara starts from Di (Dehi) Faidun. Above Di Faydun there is a place called Duoba, where prosperous and densely populated villages Duob existed the Soviet Union. The last point of the Dara ends in the southern part with the village of Shawun (Shahon). The Obi Niyov River flows through the Dara and flows into the Panj River. However, if we calculate the length of the Dara flowing into the Panj River, and include the Tagnov and Sarigor sites in the Dara, it prolonges more than 100 km.
The gorge continues on the other side of the Panj Rive, from the the village of Hohun (Khohon) located on the other side of the Panj (Oxus) river. In the past it used to be one of the main and crowded centers of Dara.If a visitor continues his journey to the ease from Duobai Dara in 8 hours he would reach into Ravnov and from there in about a day to Darvaz district. However, the nearest road from Dara to Darvaz is through Dashtijum, along the Panj River, and the construction of a highway is currently underway on this route. The last point of Dara - that is, its south - ends with the village of Shawun (Shahon). The place where the tomb associated with the six Shi’i Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq is located is the in upper part of the gorge and is called Bolodara. Visitors travelling to this site would enjoy watching the beautiful mountain river - Obi Niyov, the pure water of which gradually flows into the Panj River.
