The ancient land of Khovaling has for long captivated the hearts of the visitors with its beautiful nature, cultural and sacred historical sites. Some visitors travel to Khowaling to relax and drink water from the clear springs of this place, while other make a pilgrim to pray in the sacred places.
One of such sites and sacred, which for many years have become a special place of pilgrimage is the shrine or mausoleum of Sultan Huwaisi Qarani. It is located in Hazrati Sulton villages is 17km from the town of Khovaling. Apart from this mausoleum, several places, shrines in the Islamic world are associated with Huwaisi Qarani. The great devotion of the pilgrims to this place and the support provided by the government of Tajikistan led to the construction of mausoleum to this legendary figure.
This mausoleum is one of the several place, where the 7th century revered Muslim believer, Uwais ibn Amir al-Qarani is claimed to be had been buried. The popularity of this early Islamic figure, whose right deeds and piety was highly praised by the Prophet of Islam is a main source for his remembrance throughout the Muslim world, in particular Central Asia. The village where the mausoleum is erected is named mazor (shrine), which suggest pilgrims visit this place frequently. The people of this village name their children in honor of this mythical figure as Sultan, Mazor, or Mazori.
